Recently in our Cole Nissan blog, we wrote about two unique food truck concepts designed using the body of a Nissan NV van. Over the course of the past few months you may also have heard that the model has taken upon the role of New York City's next taxicab. Now, we'd like to bring you even more NV news. Before making their way to the lots of Cole Nissan at 3003 Stadium Drive Kalamazoo, MI 49008, all-electric variants of the NV200 will be tested throughout the streets of London.
A fusion between the body of a NV200 and the powertrain of a Nissan Leaf, the tester models will ride under the guise of FedEX delivery trucks. For two months, the package delivery service will feel out the roads behind the NV EV's wheel and officials will evaluate its performance. Though we can't say for sure whether or not the tester variant holds the same 107-hp, 207-lb./ft. specs present in the Leaf, we can tell you that the electric motor seems well suited for London driving. Not only are the city's lower speed limits conducive to EV driving range but the model renders FedEx exempt from paying London's pricey congestion charges.
In addition to FedEx, Nissan has whispered that it will test the electric NV200 variant across other field trials as well. This gives us good reason to believe that we might actually see the model hit our new Nissan lineup in the future. To keep informed on the automaker's decisions regarding the innovative van, be sure to stay tuned and contact Cole Nissan with any questions that may arise.
